Exciting card game action on your PC! One of my all time favorite card games is Wizard so you can imagine my joy when I found that I could play it online with my family and friends! Just download the game from the site and then hand out in the chat room to arrange a game! Need at least 3 players to start.. can play with up to 6! Make sure you try hidden bid! Rules, downloads, etc at the Wizardcards site!

Using Mozilla? Try these shortcuts!
Ctrl-T -- opens a new tab!
F9 --opens/closes the sidebar (which is cool too)
/ (and then type text) --searches the document for that word... then hit F3 to find that same word again!

Enjoy!

Time for something imporntant!
One of the amazing advantages of the internet is the ability to do research. Granted, only so much can be gleaned from website dedicated to dead cats... however, there is some excellent ways to learn the good stuff!
Start at Gospelcom.net to get excellent resources and access to dozens or Bible study helps and translations!

The best way to send a document to friends and family is by making and sending a .pdf file. Don't send .doc files! Wordperfect Office has a publish to pdf facility built right in. If you don't have WP (and you should) then just get PDF995 which converts any file to PDF for free (and get an ad everytime) or pay $9.95.

Ever have a file that you want to send to someone and you can't email it because it's too big? Why not set up your computer with an FTP server (File Transfer Protocol). Cerburus FTP is free and works well! Easy to use too!

Please don't hate me. I had my arms chopped off and I have to type this with my tongue! (just kidding). OK. So I've been lax... but there are some more software programs and web sites that I've been fiddling with that you will want to know about!
Mozilla

1. Well, there still Mozilla of course which is at 1.6 and doing awesome!
Of course now... is just the browser (Firefox) and just the email client (Thunderbird). Check them out!

Now, fun with PHP!!

Ever wish you could have your friends/family/church members.... etc be able to update or chat or whatever just through their web browser? Well, it's easier than ever! Here are some apps you'll wanna check out.

2. How about a free church management software system? Yes, it's true. Openserve.org features Infocentral which a PHP web browser database (driven by MySQL) application that tracks members, visitors, giving and alot more. And it's free!

3. Oh, you'll need a web host.. so why not just let your own machine host it for you! That's right, head over to Apache and download the latest server and turn you computer into a bona fide web server! (I do .. see here).

3. Free bulletin board / chat room website (based on Mysql and PHP as well). PHPbb offers an awesome bulletin board system. Check out my demo here.

4. Another bulletin board type program is Invision Board which will cost you money if you register it... but it has a calendar built right in to share info with friends and family. Here's my demo.

5. And, finally, the best word processor is due to come out with a new version soon... which includes Corel Presentations! Check out my page for getting the most out of it!

Yes, the Canuncks died a horrible death in the playoffs!  :-(

On the good news front, Mozilla 1.4
(release candicate 1) is out and as solid as usual!  Grab yours
today.  Some nice new things is the option to not install the mail
client (if you don't need it... which I use and love with it's funky
spam filtering!).

CTV News no longer has their live video feed
(very sad) of it's 24hr news network.. but you can get the audio now
which is better than nothing!

Mozilla 1.4 Beta  is out!  Just more of the same good stuff!! release notes are here.
Canucks is it their last game tonight????

Monday, April 07, 2003

Well... the releases just keep on coming.  As I mentioned earlier, Mozilla 1.3 is out now.. and, right on it's heals, it's Mozilla 1.4 Alpha (better Composer and more Spam tools).  I'm running 1.4a at the moment and it's incredibly stable!  Go ahead... give it a try!

And, of course, the canucks  a now in the playoffs!  WOO HOO.  Now, if I could only actually watch the games!  :-(

Turns out Ad-aware isn't gone
after all.  Oops!  They were just moving their website.. or
something like that!

Tuesday, January 14, 2003

OK.

Sorry.

I keep trying the new Blogging option in Mozilla but can't get it to
work properly...yet!   Oh the fun of software testing.

So.... got any spyware on your computer?  Good old "Ad-Aware"
seems to have ground to a halt... so it's time to recommend a new
system searcher to get rid of those nasties...

Thankfully there is another kid on the the block... albeit German... Spybot. Also looks for list of
things that might be used to "track" you (like "recent" folders) and
places them in a secure place (I don't bother myself).  Looks like
a winner.

Mozilla 1.3alpha is out and features
email filtering (very cool), email searching improvements (cool) and
improvements to bookmark orgainization (also cool). Enjoy!

Here's a very cool site.  NO-IP.com.

Allows you to set up any Internet account with a changing IP address
(which most of us have) and then assign a name to it so that you can
have a web server or ftp server.. or whatever... without having to keep
track of the IP addresses!.  Trust me.  It's cool.!

Just want the browser?  Then get Phoenix
0.5
is just out today.  Get rid of those pop up windows with
ease and have a faster web experience!

Friday, December 06, 2002

Mozilla 1.2 came out... and then was pulled!  Seemed they had a little problem that was so important that they decided to go for a 1.2.1 release.  So... here it is!  Enjoy.

Also, ever wanted to create PDF files but didn't want to pay for it?  Well, of course you can with Wordperfect 9 and 10... but that's not what I was getting at!  Ghostscript and GSView are the way to go.  All you need to do is install a PS printer (any one will do and you just have it set to "print to file"... you don't actually have to own a real PS printer!) and then use the output PRN file to create a PDF.  Works great!

Using Wordperfect Office 2002?  No?  Well, you should be!  Yes?
Then you might want to download and install Service
Pack 2
.  Fixes a few more things and makes life even easier!  Thinking
of switching to a better...yet less expensive word processor?  Afraid
of leaving the prison of Word?  Check out a few of these sites for some
helpful info.   You can be set free!!!

Kids often ask me "where did you get that game".  Often the answer is
"I bought it"... and then they ask.. "can you burn me a copy" and which point
I go into a oft rehearsed tirade about piracy and the need to be "above reproach".
"Or", I say, "it's just a demo and you can download it too!".

There are many gaming download site but my personal favourite is from England.
 GamesDomain.com is great and
doesn't force you to register and give away your soul to get something another
company really wants you to have!   Check them out.

Wednesday, September 25, 2002

Well, here's a neat thing.  Just want a browser?  That it.. just
a browser?  No email.  No chat garbage. Check out the new Phoenix
(yes, based on Mozilla).  It just
flies! Gonna put it on all the PC's in the youth room I think!  Really
will speed things up.. and prevent the kids from messing with things!

Wednesday, September 18, 2002

Well. Finally back up and running.
Did a fresh install of XP and, for the first time, didn't have to phone MS to get a new registration number! Things are running fine now too.. even after putting SP1 on. Guess things aren't that much different than the old Win98 days after all! :-(

Friday, September 13, 2002

Oh the Horror!
Installed XP's Service Pack one .. and things got alot slower. So, I tried to uninstall it with a restore point. Now everything is messed up! YIPES!
This could be a "format and reinstall" week!

Thursday, September 12, 2002

OK.  OK. Get off my back.

I'll post something today!

Yes, I've been buzier than... something that's really buzy... these days
but that is NO EXCUSE to miss posting to my beloved Blog.

So.  What do I have today???  Reading.  Yep.  A
really long article about the Browser Wars
with some really cool predictions
regarding the future of Mozilla.   Honest.  It's a good read!

Also, check out this comedian we have
coming in this weekend!  Really funny!

So you like the new Netscape 7 but are a tad annoyed my pop up ads and unrequested
windows while you browse.  Well... have no fear... someone has fixed
that.  Click here
to get it installed again a leave the world of annoying pop ups!

Our buddies at Nerdysouth had some
cool Shockwave stuff... but got too many hits and had to shutdown.  I grabbed
this gem
and will have it on my site for a few days....while I have "time
on my hands".!  :-)

Friday, August 30, 2002

Well.  When it pours it rains!.. or something like that.

Mozilla 1.1 final is now out and, not
to be outdone, Netscape 7
final is out too!  Both are solid and Netscape 7 seems very fast!  Nicely
done!  Integrates your AIM and (to a lesser extent) ICQ lists too. Nice
touch. IMHO, Netscape can now take a serious run at IE for the first time
since way back in version 3.  Silly Dog
has some neat info and old versions for download.  Check it out.!

Are you an addict?   I'm not talking about drugs or booze... but video
games!

I actually can understand why because some of the games now are awesome!  I
recall not being able to sleep after playing some online games.  It's
a real rush.  So I quit.  I need my beauty rest!  Check out the CTV
News story
