Mozilla 1.3alpha is out and features
email filtering (very cool), email searching improvements (cool) and
improvements to bookmark orgainization (also cool). Enjoy!

Here's a very cool site.  NO-IP.com.

Allows you to set up any Internet account with a changing IP address
(which most of us have) and then assign a name to it so that you can
have a web server or ftp server.. or whatever... without having to keep
track of the IP addresses!.  Trust me.  It's cool.!

Just want the browser?  Then get Phoenix
0.5
is just out today.  Get rid of those pop up windows with
ease and have a faster web experience!

Mozilla 1.2 came out... and then was pulled!  Seemed they had a little problem that was so important that they decided to go for a 1.2.1 release.  So... here it is!  Enjoy.

Also, ever wanted to create PDF files but didn't want to pay for it?  Well, of course you can with Wordperfect 9 and 10... but that's not what I was getting at!  Ghostscript and GSView are the way to go.  All you need to do is install a PS printer (any one will do and you just have it set to "print to file"... you don't actually have to own a real PS printer!) and then use the output PRN file to create a PDF.  Works great!

Using Wordperfect Office 2002?  No?  Well, you should be!  Yes?
Then you might want to download and install Service
Pack 2
.  Fixes a few more things and makes life even easier!  Thinking
of switching to a better...yet less expensive word processor?  Afraid
of leaving the prison of Word?  Check out a few of these sites for some
helpful info.   You can be set free!!!

Kids often ask me "where did you get that game".  Often the answer is
"I bought it"... and then they ask.. "can you burn me a copy" and which point
I go into a oft rehearsed tirade about piracy and the need to be "above reproach".
"Or", I say, "it's just a demo and you can download it too!".

There are many gaming download site but my personal favourite is from England.
 GamesDomain.com is great and
doesn't force you to register and give away your soul to get something another
company really wants you to have!   Check them out.

Well, here's a neat thing.  Just want a browser?  That it.. just
a browser?  No email.  No chat garbage. Check out the new Phoenix
(yes, based on Mozilla).  It just
flies! Gonna put it on all the PC's in the youth room I think!  Really
will speed things up.. and prevent the kids from messing with things!

Wednesday, September 18, 2002

Well. Finally back up and running.
Did a fresh install of XP and, for the first time, didn't have to phone MS to get a new registration number! Things are running fine now too.. even after putting SP1 on. Guess things aren't that much different than the old Win98 days after all! :-(

Friday, September 13, 2002

Oh the Horror!
Installed XP's Service Pack one .. and things got alot slower. So, I tried to uninstall it with a restore point. Now everything is messed up! YIPES!
This could be a "format and reinstall" week!

OK.  OK. Get off my back.

I'll post something today!

Yes, I've been buzier than... something that's really buzy... these days
but that is NO EXCUSE to miss posting to my beloved Blog.

So.  What do I have today???  Reading.  Yep.  A
really long article about the Browser Wars
with some really cool predictions
regarding the future of Mozilla.   Honest.  It's a good read!

Also, check out this comedian we have
coming in this weekend!  Really funny!

So you like the new Netscape 7 but are a tad annoyed my pop up ads and unrequested
windows while you browse.  Well... have no fear... someone has fixed
that.  Click here
to get it installed again a leave the world of annoying pop ups!

Our buddies at Nerdysouth had some
cool Shockwave stuff... but got too many hits and had to shutdown.  I grabbed
this gem
and will have it on my site for a few days....while I have "time
on my hands".!  :-)

Well.  When it pours it rains!.. or something like that.

Mozilla 1.1 final is now out and, not
to be outdone, Netscape 7
final is out too!  Both are solid and Netscape 7 seems very fast!  Nicely
done!  Integrates your AIM and (to a lesser extent) ICQ lists too. Nice
touch. IMHO, Netscape can now take a serious run at IE for the first time
since way back in version 3.  Silly Dog
has some neat info and old versions for download.  Check it out.!

Are you an addict?   I'm not talking about drugs or booze... but video
games!

I actually can understand why because some of the games now are awesome!  I
recall not being able to sleep after playing some online games.  It's
a real rush.  So I quit.  I need my beauty rest!  Check out the CTV
News story
So.  So many Christian sites claim to be "cutting edge" and "evangelistic"
but, in reality, they are neither.  Worse yet, some will brandish the
KJV the whole time too (run away, run away!).    Granted,
there are some good ones too.. and here's one.  ..rejesus.com.  Seems
they have actually put some thought into in.    Street corner interviews
are great.  Enjoy!

OK.  So I lied.

Got Corel
Draw Suite 11
today and... well.... I'm steeped in all kinds of wonderful
things!  It's awesome (so far) and PhotoPaint ain't no slouch either.
Still.  This ain't supposed to be about Draw but about Mozilla.  Stay focused here Joell.  Still.
New is good.  Speaking of new....didja notice that the movie "Enemy at the Gates" was
actually very good (regardless of what this
guy
says) and I give it 1.5 thumbs up.  Turns out it was about 75%
historically accurate too (all the "schlepy" parts were made up... I hate
that).  Turns out the Battle of Stalingrad
was one of my favourite subjects in high school.  Very interesting.

My high school reunion was this week in Langley. Nice to see those folks again and remember all those really embarrasing times!
I'm back in the saddle here again and I'll be posting like I should.

Need technical help with some software or hardware? Does the company's website leave you lost? Well... try out newsgroups! Most big software/hardware vendors offer newsgroups which can get you an answer usually within a day. Newsgroups look and feel just like email... but it's not. Mozilla makes it very easy to use and post messages on your favourite site. For testing, try this link to the the Corel Presentations 10 Newsgroup. Have fun!

Thanks to the wonders of the internet for allowing me to listen to my beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders on Hamilton's radio station. GO RIDERS!
OK.
Screwed up the link in the last entry and can't delete it!
Meant to put in a link to Multizilla
Oh.... almost forgot. Mozilla. 1.1b (that's B for "beta") is out and it continues to get solid-er and solid-er (I know... not real words!).

Also... bookmark this page for some really cool Mozilla Extras. (including

Wow. One month on the road.. and finally home!
That was way too much travelling! Nevertheless we had fun and thanks to all who let up sponge off of them en route! Next year: we're inviting everyone to come and see us instead!

So... finally watched the Planet Of The Apes tonight.
Nice movie and all... but... was it my imagaination or did the surprize ending make now sense? They even put a little "let us explain it to you" thing at the end... but... still....it doesn't make sense.
Sorry. Methinks they overthunk it.

Natural Church Development is a fairly groovy way to ensure that your church is healthy. Ed Dyck and Ken Nettleton are hiere in Kitimat to help us figure out where we need to go in the path of getting healthier. Good stuff.

Well, for the first time in 3 years... I am going to change my home page!
NO!
YES!
Since we don't have cable TV anymore I have decided to go with CTV News home page and it's live feed! Perfect for broadbanders! Way to go CTV!

Got to go golfing today for the first time in a very long time!!! Somehow, having 45 kids seems to have gotten in the way of my golf game. Shot an impressive 107! A couple of Christmases ago my lovely wife bought me a pull cart. After the second hole and wondering how I was going to manage (being out of shape and all) I suddenly realized...I forgot the cart! Oh well. Better workout I guess!
No link of interest today! Sorry~

Nothing earth shattering to report today (not that there was any other day...). Did help my sister begin to learn how to FTP (sounds like a soap or something). File Transfer Protocol... the way one gets files from another computer.. and sends files to another computer. FileZilla looks pretty good I must say:

OK... it just doesn't stop....
Mozilla 1.1 alpha now out ....you just get to know a girl....
Seems faster too!
http://mozilla.org
OK.
The cool Mozilla stuff just keeps on coming. Turns out you can make your very own sidebar! (Like I just did with my Blob)Take this URL and then insert the stuff you want into the approriate locations.
http://dirt.netscape.com/cgi-bin/sidebar.cgi?title=TITLE%20GOES%20HERE&URL=http://URL%20GOES%20HERE
Just don't forget to leave the "&" between the TITLE GOES HERE part and the URL GOES HERE.
Enjoy!

Welcome.
As you can see... I think so much of myself that I figure others on the net might actually care what I am thinking. Time for a little therapy?? Nope! Instead.. I got Mozilla 1.0 and it rocks my world. Here's why:
1. Obviously it is more secure than.. you know. Not many virus' written for the Netscape/Mozilla address book.. actually, none that I know of.
2. Some really interesting plugins like making your mouse into sort of "freehand shortcuts" thing. Very cool. Tabbed browsing. Multiple email accounts. Skins! The ability to write to your Blog (what this is) right in the browser! Overall... I'm giddy.
3. Built in ICQ (if you need it).
4. It's free.!

OK. Enough advertizing. We'll see about further posts.
